Good Dog Nutrition Counts

Ever wondered why your dog is always down and out, and never the kind of energetic dog you wanted him to be? There could be a host of reasons, ranging for sickness, in-born issues; the dog’s own character or maybe it’s the kind of food he is eating. While food may not be the cause it’s something that should not be ruled out. Of course if it’s too much in the extreme then take your do to a specialist to seek proper advice.

The kind of nutrition a dog receives does count, just like humans; dogs eating the right kind of food have a better chance of healthy living and a longer life. It’s like if you only ate French fries your entire life what would happen to you? For all you know, potatoes may start growing out of your skin! One thing for sure you will not be a healthy person. The same goes for our loving pet dogs. Now there is no guarantee that with the right nutrition your dog will always be healthy and strong. Other factors may come into play, like some heriditary issues, or the dog got sick (from eating French fries?) for some reason. At the very least you have eliminated one factor that could get your dog into serious problems later on in his life.

These days you can find all sorts of dog food available in the market with products specializing at certain aspects about your dog. There is dog food for young dogs, as well as for adult dogs. If your dog has some ailment issues there are foods available such as diet for a dog with diarrhea. Even if your dog has pancreatic inadequacy theirs a diet plan for that too. We have really gone to great lengths to properly care for our dogs. This has come a long way because things were much tougher for both man and dogs in the olden days.

It cannot be exactly pinpointed when the dogs became domesticated by man and what exactly was their relationship when they first started out. There is still some uncertainty whether dogs were originally used in hunting or it came later on. What more, what day was it when man began to feed their dogs regularly (we can only guess if it started on a Friday or Saturday) is also not known. Nevertheless, at some point man began feeding there dogs and today we have reached this point of sophistication of feeding our dogs.

This used to be quite the opposite because there was a time (and up to now in some places) that man also ate his best friend (perhaps they weren’t best friends then). Life was so hard in ancient times that food was not readily available for man and his family, so dogs became part of the menu. Now whether the dogs responded in kind be eating man we are not too sure (the dogs may have eaten the witnesses too).

Perhaps it is through this shared hardship that we have such emotional ties to our dogs. Dogs in turn are very loyal and have a long known history of protecting their masters (or perhaps they were just being practical and protecting their food source). While there are still dogs out there that do a lot of work like for herding purposes, guarding purposes, and even sniffing for bombs, more often than not dogs are basically bought as pets. An undeniable expression of love for these creatures.

To keep this long history of friendship going we owe it to ourselves and to our dogs that they should be given the right kind of nutrition so they can live happy and long lives.
