In February 2001, Sharp unveiled the world's first Plasmacluster Ion air purification technology, which produced airborne ions that isolated germs and odors.

However, the first product that used this state of the art technology wasintroduced in 2000. Experts described the FU-L40X air purifier as using Plasmacluster Ion technology, to release and inactivate positive and negative ions and neutralize mold fungi.

The way it functioned was relatively simple. The reactive agents were pumped into a sealed container along with the pathogen.

During the review of the Sharp air purifier, we reviewed many official Sharp advertisements where plamascluster ions are depicted as dramatically encircling and neutralizing harmful pathogens. These computer generated ads were very useful in illustrating activity at the molecular level, however, they are not very useful for serious air purifier customers in search of verifiable, scientific proof.

No one wants to be stuck with a sophisticated looking machine that uses up a lot of electricity but does nothing else. No one wants to be deluded into believing that they purchased a reliable, state of the art air purifier when there are alternative technologies available that do abette4r job of improving indoor air quality.

No manufacturer is more aware of the genuine concerns of consumers than Sharp Corporation, as evident by the fact that no other company goes to the lengths that Sharp does to address those concerns. To date, 28 experiments have been performed by various scientific organisations all over the world. The results are that Sharp is clearly in the lead. The only missing element is a peer review of these 28 experiments. Ironically, there would be no value to such a review if it were commissioned by Sharp.

For the purpose of this particular review, the 28 experiments have creditable value for the consumer because they were conducted by qualified experts. It is reasonable to assume that a scientific peer review of any one of the experiments would reveal that the findings are reliable. It is also reasonable to assume that Sharp would not refuse a genuine attempt to perform an independent scientific peer review. In short, this review is the core of all of the academic marketing for Plasmacluster Ion technology by Sharp.
