Dell Streak 5 Tablet Review

Source: Dell Streak 5 Android Tablet Fanatic

Before we review the Dell Streak 5... first you need to ask yourself a couple of questions:

Do you want a tablet that is multifunctional and rugged? If so, this is definitely the one for you. The engineers at Dell have created a great pocket tablet. Looking for smart phone abilities? This will do that. Want GPS? No worries. Want a book on the fly? The Dell Streak 5 is everything you want out of a tablet, and has instant access to many ebooks in the Kindle store. Easily use it as a mobile phone, with the ability to import images from Facebook so you can easily recognise who your caller is just from glancing at your tablet. What about Bluetooth or WiFi? Well, believe it or not, this little beauty can be used as a WiFi hotspot for use with other devices.

Do you plan on getting a Dell Streak 5 Tablet?

  • No
  • Maybe
  • I already got an iPad - ;)

Also, this tablet comes with the Android 2.2 Stage user interface, allowing easy access to e-mail, music and photos all from the easy to use screen. This is a great way to browse the web. It's almost impossible to get lost with this tablet. You will be able to find the shortest routes, thanks to the GPS function which uses Google Maps' live traffic. Want to be able to control it while you are driving your car? No problem. The Dell Streak 5's built-in voice recognition function means you can keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on where you're going.

Are you a fan of videos and photos? Enjoy watching YouTube videos on the 5-inch screen. The Dell Streak 5's touch screen is resistant to scratches. You will also save a lot of battery life thanks to the built-in ambient light sensors which are able to automatically adjust the screen brightness according to the brightness of the environment. It is a very light tablet too.

When looking to buy a new portable device such as this, you need to make sure that the battery will last long enough. Unfortunately, with the Dell Streak 5, this is the biggest problem you will get. Even though this is a great tablet in many other ways, it has a terrible battery life; considering everything that this tablet does while on the move, the battery really needs to be a lot more powerful. The battery just doesn't last long enough.

When buying a new device like this, you need to think about how reliable it will be. When you're in the middle of an important transaction or business call, you can't just have it suddenly stop working because the battery has run out of power. Another thing worth mentioning is that it doesn't have a big screen size. Sure, a small tablet like this is extremely portable, and that comes in handy in many situations, but it's hard to enjoy a full length film on a screen this small. If you carry spare batteries around with you and you don't mind the small screen, this is a great little tablet that has many great features and many great functions.

Cool, a fellow Android enthusiast! Not a great fan of the Dell because I already got an Eee Pad, but hey, good to see the site isn't swamped in iPad users.

I know.. the dell is a bit old now. But some people like it. More for the older generation lol
